What this service does

This server hosts QR code short links. When you scan one of our QR codes, this server looks up where that code currently points and forwards you there. The destination can be updated without reprinting the code.

What we record

When a QR code is scanned, we record anonymous usage information:

  • Which QR code was scanned, and when
  • A one-way cryptographic hash of your IP address, not the address itself
  • Your browser and operating system, as reported by your browser
  • Whether you are on a mobile, tablet or desktop device
  • The page that referred you, if any
  • A random identifier stored in a cookie on this site, so repeat scans from the same browser can be counted once
  • Optionally, screen size, timezone and browser language

What we do not do

We do not collect your name, phone number, email address, device serial number, MAC address, IMEI, Apple ID or Google account. We do not attempt to identify you personally, we do not use third-party advertising or analytics trackers, and we do not sell or share this data.

The random identifier in the cookie is not linked to any personal information. It is meaningless outside this service.

How long we keep it

Scan records are automatically deleted after the retention period configured for this service. Aggregate counts may be retained for longer.

Declining the cookie

The visitor cookie is optional. If your browser blocks cookies, the redirect still works normally; we simply cannot tell repeat scans apart.
